Our journey begins at Newark International Airport... traveling beyond the pond to the breathtaking country of Iceland. We'll leave Saturday, September 19, 2026, on our overnight flight.
Arriving the next day at Reykjavik Airport we will collect our luggage and board our private coach and travel to the Radisson Blu 1919 Hotel, located in the heart of Reykjavik. Upon arriving at the hotel, our luggage will be stored until our rooms are ready. Following breakfast at the hotel we will embark on a guided walking tour of Reykjavík. After the walking tour the remainder of the day is yours to explore this capital city.
Following breakfast at our hotel we will board our private coach and start our tour of the Reykjanes Peninsula, a UNESCO Global Geopark. The Geopark stands as a testament to nature’s artistry, with volcanic and geothermal wonders setting the stage.
As we travel through the peninsula we’ll see the famous fish-hangars stand, Lake Kleifarvatn, the hot springs of Seltún and Gunnuhver, and the quaint fishing village of Grindavík. The peninsula is a land-born, highly volcanic counterpart of the Mid-Atlantic Spreading Ridge where two tectonic plates part at an average rate of 2.0-2.5 cm/yr. We will have an opportunity to walk the bridge between continents, offering a serene stroll between the world’s tectonic divides.
Following the Peninsula tour we will enjoy a short break back at our hotel before reboarding our coach to catch a display of the Northern Lights dancing above the unique vista of Icelandic nature. Note that should the weather prevent this we will re-schedule for another night that is better suited.
Following breakfast at the hotel we will be picked up by our private coach to explore Iceland’s famous ‘Golden Circle’.
First, we’ll visit Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that serves as a living testament to Iceland’s rich history and geological significance. Here, you’ll stroll through the very rift valley where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates drift apart, a mesmerizing sight that highlights the dynamic forces shaping our planet.
Next, prepare to be awestruck by the mesmerizing display of nature’s power at Geysir Geothermal Area in Haukadalur. Marvel at the explosive eruptions of Strokkur, a geyser that shoots scalding hot water high into the air with impressive regularity, creating an otherworldly spectacle against Iceland’s rugged terrain.
Continuing our journey, we’ll encounter the golden cascade of Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls. Feel the mist on your skin as you stand in awe of this roaring testament to the raw beauty of nature, where glacial meltwaters plunge dramatically into a deep canyon, leaving visitors spellbound by its sheer grandeur.
And last but certainly not least, we’ll make a stop at the breathtaking Kerið Volcanic Crater Lake. Immerse yourself in the ethereal beauty of this volcanic crater, filled with stunning turquoise waters that contrast against the rugged volcanic rock formations.
Today is your free day to explore Iceland as you wish. Take a trip to the famous Blue Lagoon, hop a ship for a day of whale watching, enjoy a hike through anyone of the breathtaking national parks, or simply enjoy the day in Reykjavík. Options for this day will be offered three months out from the trip. (fees for any excursions on this day are not included in the overall trip cost)
Following breakfast we will board our coach and travel to the stunning south coast of Iceland—a land where nature’s beauty shines in every view. Your adventure begins as you travel through wide, open landscapes and winding roads that lead you to some of Iceland’s most cherished sights.
Our first stop is Skógafoss, a mighty waterfall. Its powerful cascade and refreshing spray will leave you in awe of nature’s strength. The highlight of your day is a guided glacier hike on Sólheimajökull. With all the necessary gear provided—crampons, harness, helmet, and ice axe—you will step onto a sparkling world of ice. As you walk across the glacier, there will be stops where you can take pictures of the amazing ice formations, deep crevasses, and endless icy views. Every step brings a new sight and a feeling of wonder as you explore this frozen terrain.
The journey continues to Reynisfjara, a black-sand beach known around the world. Here, tall basalt columns and striking rock formations rise from the shore, set against the vast blue Atlantic Ocean. Take a moment to soak in the peaceful sound of the waves and the beauty of the unique landscape.
The last highlight of the day is the famous Seljalandsfoss waterfall that lets you walk behind its flowing water. Feel the cool mist and enjoy a view that is both rare and magical.
Our final full day in Iceland; following breakfast we continue our journey starting with the dramatic cliffs of Arnarstapi, marvel at the iconic Kirkjufell mountain and its nearby Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall. Walk the black sands of Djúpalónssandur beach and experience the inspiration for Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth as we explore this amazing area of Iceland.
Snaefellsnes is a peninsula in western Iceland famous for its bird cliffs, black sand beaches, mountains, and the large glacier at its western tip. Its attractions and geological features encapsulate the diversity of the Icelandic landscape in many ways and for this reason many consider it to be “Iceland in miniature“. Situated well away from the Ring Road, this remote region is sparsely populated and all too often overlooked by visitors who stick to the more traveled paths.
Following breakfast we bid farewell to Iceland as we transfer by coach to Reykjavík Airport for our return flight to the United States. Breakfast Included
